I am deeply attuned to myself. When I experience emotions and physical sensations, I am aware of them and the reasons for them. Because I am continuously in touch with my inner world, I can identify my needs and meet them easily.
My feelings and physical experiences are road maps for me.
Pain tells me not to do something. Fear tells me that something harmful may lie ahead. And joy, pleasure, and satisfaction let me know that this is an experience I would like to repeat! Knowing what satisfies me, I move easily toward greater happiness in life.
If I ever experience uncertainty or confusion about what I’m feeling, or if I feel frustrated for no apparent reason, I take a moment to check in with myself.
I ask myself what I need right now. Am I hungry? Do I need a hug? When was the last time I took a few minutes to rest? Would I benefit from a nap? In this way, I determine what I need.
Then, trusting in my resourcefulness, I take action to meet that need – preferably right away. Sometimes, I must postpone it briefly because I am in the middle of something else. If so, I make a mental note to take care of it as soon as possible.
Today, I am thankful for my ever-growing awareness of myself. I trust myself to identify my needs and ensure that they are met. Each day, I recommit to excellent self-care.

- What can I do to meet those needs?
- What small thing can I do today as part of my commitment to excellent self-care?
